Interact & Beyond

If you feared that your Interact journey would end once you left high school - I have good news for you! Joining Rotaract and Rotary is the perfect way to continue your commitment in service and experience new opportunities when you graduate from Cal High.

Rotaract Clubs are the next step from Interact. They too, are committed to developing leadership skills and having fun while engaging in service projects. Former Cal High Interact President Justin Lee is proud to be the Design Chair at UC Berkeley Rotaract. With 200 members, Berkeley’s chapter is the largest Rotaract in the world! Despite this large scale operation, every member is treated as family. Justin’s favorite part about Rotaract is “meeting people from all over who are united by their passion for service.” Rotaract brings people of all different interests and backgrounds together and is a perfect place to make friends, especially in a new school. Able to meet people outside his “bubble,” Justin says, “I've met some of my best friends from Rotaract!” With the opportunity to expand your social circle, develop your professional skills and give back to your community, there is no reason not to join a Rotaract Club or kickstart your own chapter!

To bring the cycle full circle, you can join Rotary! As a global network of people of action, Rotary has made positive and lasting change to communities through causes that build international relationships, improve people’s health, support education and build economies. Member of the San Ramon Rotary Club and our advisor for Cal High Interact, Colette Lay is grateful for the opportunity to effectively make contributions to her community. Whether providing funds to support our school district, ensuring the safety of senior citizens or beautifying the Iron Horse Trail, seeing the impact that a bit of volunteering can have is very rewarding. In the words of our lovely Rotarian, if you aspire to continue your volunteerism beyond your years in school, “Just do it! Join your local club.”

I hope this inspired you all to keep finding ways to give back and truly realize our motto of “service above self!”
